Lots Happening at Foxy Squirrel!

August 17, 2025

Hullo, Beady Loves,

Back to school happened. I resisted as best as I could, but Summer continues to wind down. Once I pause to accept this fact, I actually find myself a little excited for hoodies and fall projects. I begin pondering fall colors...Are you familiar with "having your colors done?" I am a Brown Summer. (Another oxymoron?) Of what does a fall pallet for a person with a "summer" complexion consist? Taupes, rosy-browns, bluish-greys...do these say fall? I take a peek at the Beads and Threads and Cords by-the-yard...O, yes! Now, to which Beady project shall I apply them? Bag charms! Key chains! A customer shared this idea! (So many of our projects are inspired by you!) Do you have these thoughts? Anyway, color philosophy aside...There are A LOT of events on the Foxy Squirrel Calendar and there is A LOT to talk about!!

The Calendar on the website continues to be updated. Up next, we have Open Beading this Thursday and registration is available here.
Sunday August 24, there is a Mini Make. The Mini Make replaces the Make & Take format. Like Make & Takes, Mini-Makes are projects that are appropriate for a very wide range of skill levels and will usually be completed in under 90 minutes. Unlike Make & Takes, Mini Makes require advanced registration. This allows instructors and students to have a continuous and fluid teaching/learning/making experience. The first Mini Make is Delicate Dangles, earrings made with adorable, trendy findings and 11/0 Delicas. More information is available here.
Wednesday August 27: CLASS: Peyote Star Register here. This highly-anticipated class teaches the foundations required to begin your 3D Peyote journey. 8/0 seed beads (a little larger size than "typically" seen in Peyote Stars) will be used resulting in a project that works up quickly and gives very satisfying results! <3

Museum of Beadwork hosts an annual Community Project. This year's project is No Two Alike and features Beaded Snowflakes. From the MOB page:
"Join us in our annual Collaborative Community Project! How it works: Each year we ask artists to contribute a beaded item of a specific theme. We install these collected items in an exhibition highlighting the power of people coming together for the purpose of community and creation. The exhibition is then on display for roughly a year. Once finished, the individual items are used in fundraising efforts for the Museum supporting the staff, development, and programs of this community-based institution."
All of the specifics for this Community Project are available on their website under their Programs tab. I am going create & donate a couple snowflakes to this cause and I invite you to join me! Foxy Squirrel will host Open Beading sessions in September on Wednesday the 3rd, Thursday the 11th, and Thursday the 18th, 2025. During these sessions, we will make our individual Beaded Snowflake creations (or anything else you may want to work on, of course!). If you decide to participate and you prefer, Foxy Squirrel will lovingly pack, label, and ship all of our creations to MOB for the Project. In Beading Community spirit, Foxy Squirrel will offer 15% off in-stock, non-consignment merchandise during these Open Beading Sessions to participants who have registered. All submissions should be turned in to me by the end of Open Beading on September 18 and I will ship them the following morning so they arrive by the September 30 deadline.

I have A LOT more to tell you, but I also have to go now. Please SAVE THE DATES... The last weekend in September, Cheryl Erickson will be here to TEACH! 4 Different Beaded Ornament Classes AND she will bring her KITS for a Trunk Show & Sale!!

Expect more emails from me!! Lots more to come!

xo THANK YOU!!! None of this is possible or worthwhile without YOU!!! xo
Yours from the bottom of my heart and all the way to the top of it,
